This program allows you to find, copy, and modify resources within other programs. With Sorcerer, you can extract sounds, pictures, and icons from any program and place or copy them anywhere.
This allows you to find Easter eggs (for example in Sorcerer, after registering, click register under the Apple Menu. Then hold Control as you click "thank you!" and you will see something unexpected). These Easter eggs are amusing and are usually hidden by the programmer, but Sorcerer will help find the hidden pictures, images and sounds.
An example of an Easter egg can be seen by turning “show balloons” and moving the cursor over the QuickTime extension. You can then see some unusual information. If you have OS 8.5-8.6 (and some other versions) hold Option + Command + Control and click the Apple Menu to learn about the OS team. Not all of these eggs work on all versions.
Beside Easter eggs, you can see and copy pictures, icons, or sounds you have never seen on your favorite application. Sorcerer has additional features which allow the user to add these resources to other programs.
With Sorcerer, you have the ability to use thousand of pictures, sounds, and icons from all programs on your computer.
WARNING: When replacing resource items be careful what you are doing, because the original item is gone forever when it is replaced. A solution to this problem is to duplicate the original resource file you are modifying.

HOW TO USE SORCERER
1) Drag a file to Sorcerer.
2) View through the items until you find an item you like.
3) Press the copy icon if you want to copy the sound, icon, or picture.
4) If you want to transfer a resource to another file (i.e. Program 2) click the button named "open" in the transfer area and select a file.
5) If you want to duplicate the transfer file (Program 2) click the duplicate button and save the file under a new name.
6) Then either click "add" to add a new resource from the first file to the second or "replace" to replace the selected item on the left side to the right side of the window.*
* Note: The name in the name field is its name.
If you want to see the actual size of the icon or picture click on the item in the picture box.
EXAMPLE USING SORCERER
You want to create a new Outlook Express sound set (Outlook 5).
Lets say you want the "You've got mail!" sound.
First, you would drag the Aol sound which is in the America Online folder, online files, then sounds onto the Sorcerer application.
Then in Sorcerer, click the "open" button in the transfer area open from the Outlook Express folder a sound set.
In the transfer area, open the default Microsoft sound set and click "duplicate" and create a new name.*
Click the sound on the right "You got mail" and then click on the left side on the sound with the name “new mail” then press replace. That’s it!
* Make sure to put the sound set in the right spot for Outlook express either in Documents, Microsoft User Data or Outlook Express folder, sound sets.

Usually, it is legal to use the extracted resources for your private purposes. It is usually illegal to use them for commercial uses. Always ask the authors first. Notice the above example is likely illegal for any purpose. You must ask the creators who have ownership of the product first.
This product can not be copied. It is copyrighted in 2000. All rights are reserved to Daniel Lewis, the programmer. This "read me" and registration program must be included with Sorcerer at all times. Sorcerer may be distributed on a CD-ROM, but please let the author know at dano622@kagi.com.
